Use repair history, failure consequence, parts availability, safety condition and expected site use to decide. Repeated repair on a critical bay may cost more than a planned upgrade.

Refurbishment can make sense when the structure is sound, the duty has not changed and the upgrade gives reliable service without tying up capital in a full replacement.

A good quote should show the equipment scope, safety devices, controls, installation assumptions, exclusions, maintenance route, warranty position and any operational risks not solved by the price.

Do not specify from opening size alone. Confirm vehicle range, loading method, traffic frequency, hygiene needs, impact risk, insulation, controls and future operating pressure.

Maintenance changes the real cost by reducing emergency call-outs, repeat faults, avoidable damage and unplanned downtime. A cheaper item can become expensive if it is hard to service or under-specified.

Replacement should be considered when safety condition, parts availability, downtime frequency or operating duty means repair no longer gives dependable control.
